Our Operations

Polylok, Inc. has a full time engineering and design team that continually focuses on improving our existing products and developing new ones.  Charles Brix, the design mastermind behind many of the Polylok, Inc. products leads the engineering and design group. In 2004 and 2005 alone, his team introduced over 15 new products, a record accomplishment.  Some of these new products included the Extend & Lok, PL-68 and PL-525 and PL-625 filters and housings.  Polylok, Inc. predicts that future growth will continue on its current path.

On the Sales side, the team has grown from one inside sales rep/technical expert to a team of more than 10 inside and dedicated outside sales reps. Patrick Mulhall runs the Sales team and has maintained a focus on meeting the needs of our customers.  The Sales team is available from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm EST.  The Sales Team covers many of the national shows and local conferences.  In addition, they regularly visit customers all over the continental US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

As one might imagine, shipping has become a huge part of the business.  There are three full time people dedicated to getting products to Polylok's customers from our East Coast Home Office. In addition to our Connecticut based fulfillment center, we now have West Coast and Canadian supply houses that will save our western and northern customers time and shipping expenses.  Unlike other companies in the industry, Polylok typically ships its products the same day!! This is a service we pride ourselves on, since getting the highest quality products at a reasonable price often takes time.  Our shipping area works closely with the accounting area to make sure shipping is not only efficient, but also cost effective.

Commitment to Customers

With our roots in precast, Polylok, Inc. understands the importance of keeping costs down.  At the beginning of 2004, we relocated to combine our business office with our existing manufacturing and warehousing facility. This has helped us to become even more efficient and enabled us to keep price increases to a minimum. This is rare in an industry affected by the increases in oil, plastic, steel and other commodities.

As Polylok, Inc. continues to serve the precast, drainage and onsite wastewater needs, and we continue to strive to be a "one stop shop" for precasters, pumpers, and supply houses. The Polylok, Inc. product lines are designed to serve all the needs of our main customer segments. Top sellers by segment include seals, filters, risers and rebar spacers for Precasters; filters, risers and adapter rings for Pumpers; and pumps, distribution boxes, filters, equalizers, roto-flows and trench drains for Supply Houses. Polylok, Inc. continues to introduce new products to further enhance the offerings available to each customer segment.

Innovations in Precast, Drainage & Onsite Wastewater Products

From our inception, Polylok, Inc. has been a company focused on delivering innovations to the precast, drainage and onsite wastewater industries.  We have been the first to the market with an array of products to improve the industry.  Although competitors have been quick to jump on our inventions, Polylok, Inc. was the first to introduce many industry altering products, beginning with the cast-in-place seal in 1984. In 1995, the Equalizer hit the market with a "splash".  This new product changed the installation of septic tanks for many installers.  The Equalizer is used to self-regulate the flow of effluent to the leeching fields.  Prior to the Equalizer, installers were forced to spend more time balancing the distribution boxes to avoid overflow to one leeching chamber over another.

In 1999, Polylok introduced their PL-122 Filter.  This filter was designed for residential or light commercial use.  What makes this filter unique is, it has a patented filter ball that serves two key purposes.  First, it deflects gases in the tank and second, it automatically inhibits the flow of solids into the leeching fields when the filter is removed for cleaning.  In 2001 Polylok began offering the only adapter ring for retrofitting 20" and 24" risers, eliminating the need to inventory both size risers.

2003 was another year of new inventions.  A new Polylok D-Box Seal hit the market that accepts multiple pipe sizes, while still ensuring watertight performance.  Polylok designed and offered a new D-Box that allows for multiple inlets and outlets, has stabilizing feet to prevent frost from lifting it up, and ensures watertight performance with the Polylok D-Box Seal.  Also in 2003, Polylok began offering the first high pressure, closed end boot seal. This is the first closed end seal that allows for vacuum testing and water testing with ease.

In 2004, we introduced two new filters and the Extend & Lok.  The PL-68 and PL-525 were developed in response to customer requests for both a residential filter and a high-end filter.  The PL-68 filter is ideal for residential use and may be a requirement in the future as ASTM considers making filters a prerequisite.  The PL-525 is designed for heavy-duty applications, offering 525 linear feet of filtration.  The Extend & Lok product enables pumpers to easily fit or retrofit a filter into new or existing septic tanks.  This is the first product of its kind.  The Extend & Lok is so easy to use and offers a simple solution to a very common and frustrating problem.  This product is already a top seller! 

2005 is no exception.  We have introduced the Orifice Diffuser that evenly disperses effluent while reducing the possibility of clogging distribution lines; this is made possible by a patented impeller.  In addition, we have expanded our filter line to include the PL-625 with 1/32" filtration; this is the largest commercial filter on the market today.

The Future

In synch with our commitment to its customers, we are committed to improving and promoting the industry.  Polylok, Inc. is a proud member of many Precast Concrete Onsite Wastewater Associations including Florida, Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Connecticut and California.  We are members of the Pre-Cast Concrete Association of America, National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association, the National Precast Concrete Association, New England Concrete Products Association, Wisconsin Precast Concrete Association, Precast Concrete Association of New York and several others.  Peter Gavin, President of Polylok, Inc., is a voting committee member of ASTM C27.3 that is dedicated to setting precast concrete industry standards.

Polylok, Inc. is in the process of constructing a new 125,000 sq ft Home Office in Wallingford, Connecticut.  This is the next phase in our expansion program.  This will enable us to house our engineering and design team with our Sales Office and Warehouse.  This will give us the greatest level of efficiency possible ~ resulting in the best products at the highest quality for the most competitive prices!
